Okay, I finally got around to reading one of the stories written by H. P. Lovecraft, and I have to say that it was a good read. By which I mean it was one of the most terrifying things I have ever read! Part way through I felt my heart-rate increasing, like it was trying to beat it's way out of my chest. During the read, I just thought that it was a rather disturbing tale, but afterwords, the first thought that came unbidden into my head was that it genuinely scared me.

The story that I read was The Colour Out of Space, now I'm not going to give away the story for anyone who hasn't read it yet, but it was most definitely creepy, and really, I would probably read it again, once my heart has calmed down enough. If I were to be asked as what about the story had been truly scary, I would be hard pressed for a good answer. The truth is, I do not know what was so scary about it, it just was.

In other news, I am allergic to the sun. It gives me a rash.
The reason why sunlight gives me a rash is due to photo-toxins produced in my body, caused by the presence of a medication that I have been given to deal with Hyper IgE, which I may or may not have. The medication prevents me from getting overly sick from disease and infection, while at the same time causing the unfortunate side effect of producing toxins that increase photo-sensitivity. This can cause anything from a slight discoloration of the exposed area, similar to that of a sunburn, to a rash, to full-out blistering. I found out about this last weekend, during a canoe trip, after I got sunburn/rash on my shoulders. The flesh is still somewhat hot to the touch on my right shoulder actually.

Here are some pictures of what my arms looked like, if I can get the photos that is:
Left arm on left
Right arm on right
There was blistering as well, but it went down.

Extra info on phototoxin.
